SYNTACTIC ASSEMBLAGES
EXPLORING A FRACTAL UNIVERSE
A R T I S T S T A T E M E N T
Did the Creator use a syntactical language for the
making of our world? Or other worlds?
Is there a formal codex of creation for our planet, like
the double coiled DNA helix ?
Is there a clonable blueprint that guides the eruptions
of mountains, of marshes or the dunes of sand?
Like recombinant DNA, I have cloned and spliced my
images to what I see as conceivable manifestations of
this universal order - an order that is abundant in all
of nature.
It’s elementary. Each component of the assemblage
– each building block – is cloned, reversed, turned
inside out or upside down. Every configuration
conforms to and evokes the possibilities of the system.
An endless system, endlessly replicating itself would
create a new world.
Both natural and otherworldly at the same time, all of
these assemblages are conceived by these rules,
according to the grammar of this creationist code.
